View to the backyard

Another backyard just off the Chauseestrasse, there is a certain melancholy about these old houses, partly due to the fact that all this will change very soon, some for the better, some for the worse. How lucky to be a painter, to be able to catch the moment, and go away with it deep in ones heart and soul, and only then to reconstruct/paint it. If that first fleeting moment and feeling goes not deep enough, no sketch or photograph of the subject will do.

Ein weiterer Hinterhofblick, diesmal an der Chausseestrasse. Dies alten Häuser strahlen eine ganz eigene Melancholy aus, teilweise sicher auch weil sich diese Eindrücke bald ändern werden, manche zum Guten manche leider auch zum Schlechten. Wie glücklich kann ich mich da schätzen als Maler den Moment festhalten zu dürfen und ihn tief in meinem Herzen mitzunehmen, ihn erst später zu rekonstruieren zu malen. Wenn dieser erste flüchtige Moment nicht tief genug geht hilft keine Skizze, kein Photo des Motivs.
