Edward B. Gordon: View to Alexanderplatz

The Alexanderplatz is a place I could live without, to be honest. It is for me a symbol of architecture at its worst, in my humble opinion. But with its large tv tower it certainly is a symbol of the city. If you get lost in the Berlin, which is easily done, the tv tower is like a natural GPS system, you know at least, in which direction you got lost in. Last evening on my way to the Slow Restaurant Club ( more to follow ) I was presented with this view, and in the last colours of the evening light at least, the Alexanderplatz did not look that bad anymore.

Der Alexanderplatz ist ein Ort ohne den ich, ehrlichgesagt, gut leben könnte. Er symbolisiert für mich das hässlichste was es an Architektur gibt ( das ist natürlich ganz subjektiv nur meine Empfindung ) Mit dem riesigen Fernsehturm ist er natürlich auch ein Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Wenn Sie in Berlin sich verlaufen, was leicht passieren kann, fungiert der Fernsehturm wie ein natürlich GPS System, Sie wissen zumindest in welche Richtung Sie sich verlaufen haben. Gestern abend, auf meinem Weg zum Restaurant Club Slow (mehr darüber bald hier) präsentierte sich mir diese Sicht, und in den Farben des späten Abendlichts sah der Alexanderplatz dann nicht mehr ganz so schlimm aus.
