Tranquility

It was very shortly after the sun went down. Its last reflections of violet and pink were still to be seen mirrored on the water. The day comes to an end, there is tranquility over the water, faint laughter is heard from the small boat... the kind of boat you would expect to see Thomas Mann travelling on... no this is not Venice, it is still Berlin.

Es war ganz kurz nachdem die Sonne untergegangen war. Ihre letzten Reflektionen in Violett und Pink spiegelten sich noch im Wasser. Der Tag kommt zu seinem Ende, es liegt Ruhe über dem Wasser, fernes Lachen dringt von dem kleinen Boot herauf ..., eine Art von Boot, auf dem man Thomas Mann an der Reling stehend erwarten würde ..... doch nein, das ist hier nicht Venedig sondern immer noch Berlin.
